'A Beautiful Disaster' Blog Tour

Today I am interviewing Daisy Paquet from Caught Daydreaming about her soon-to-be-released book, A Beautiful Disaster!

When Wither is crowned king of the faerie, he knows that it is up to him to free his people from the UnderKingdom, a vast network of mines that his people have been confined to for a thousand years. In a desperate attempt to prove himself, he kidnaps the pyxie princess and swears that he will stop at nothing to convince her to help them.

When Aspin, princess of the pyxie, finds herself in the UnderKingdom, her first instinct isn't fright- she has never been frightened of anything, for there has never been anything for her to be frightened of. When she meets the faerie, she agrees to help them into the world- into the light. A thousand years is far too long; no one should be in the dark that long.

Together, Wither and Aspin launch headlong into an adventure, setting off a chain of events out of their control.
I think her synopsis and cover are absolutely fantastic. I have not read the book yet, but I'm very excited to when it comes out on August first. You can find it on Goodreads HERE.

Here are the questions I asked.

What inspired Beautiful Disaster?

I honestly have NO IDEA. I had had a kind of rough day, and I came home feeling depressed. I was sitting on my childhood swing set, just kind of looking at the sky... and there it was. A faerie king kidnapping a pyxie princess. It was a real God-thing because all the pieces just fell into place after that.

Who are the main characters, and which was your favorite to write?

Wither and Aspin are the main characters- and Wither was 100% the most fun to write. He's a bit arrogant but he has a good heart. :)

Do you have a playlist or song for it? (I have to ask because I always do this)

Yes, actually! (all of these are clean)

These Are the Days- Love and the Outcome
All Alright- Fun. (This is actually like their cleanest song)
Paradise- Love and the Outcome
In Awe- Hollyn
Vanilla Twilight- Owl City (This song <3)
Stars- Skillet (I just love Skillet and this one is particularly beautiful.)

When did you start writing Beautiful Disaster?

Around two months ago. I don't remember what exact day. I wrote it in a little under a month and did second and third drafting for around fourteen days while a few friends alpha-read. :)

Do you have a favorite scene?

Probably near the end- There's a particular conversation between Wither and Sliver when they're being held by the pyxie authorities that makes me smile. Here it is:
“Why do you care?” he asks. “Do you care?”

“Because if we’re dead I can’t say I told you so.”

Wither blinks. “Was that a joke? You know what, never mind. Aspin is out there, and it’s my fault. Let’s go.”

“Without a plan? That is not what I meant!” Sliver says, as the wall of boxes collapses next to her. She coughs, as dust rises.
“Isn’t that how we’ve done things so far? We might as well maintain some level of consistency.”

ARE YOU EXCITED?? (This barely counts as a question)

OF COURSE YES SO MUCH 100% ON ALL THE LEVELS.

maybe a bit. :p I've been dreaming of this since I was about seven years old, so...

♡♡♡

Thank you Daisy! I'm so glad we could do this. I look forward to reading!
